Fisayo Soyombo an investigative journalist broke the news of his findings on Nigerian prisons and police authorities are not too happy about it.

The article which was written after instigating his own arrest was able to shed more light on a system that is in fact not correctional. The chain of bribery, torture and corruption was exposed through the stories, audio and photographs released by Fisayo. His article attracted a lot of reactions from hundreds of Nigerians with many supporting his findings with similar stories.

However, reports gathered from Enough is Enough Nigeria reveals that the Fisayo has been receiving threats of arrest by various people since the exposure of the prison system. They said quoting authorities, “He is to be charged to court & prosecuted under section 29 of the Nigeria Correctional Service Act”.

Putting into consideration the current detention of #RevolutionNow facilitator Sowore, an arrest of Fisayo might actually happen.

Nigerians have been trending the ‘Keepfisayosafe’ hashtag in order that any necessary authority will intervene in whatever it is the police authorities may be planning. Looking past how ironic that is, it is in the best interest of Nigerians as a whole that Fisayo is not punished for standing against a system that is so corrupt.

If these threats are actually brought to fruition this will seriously threaten press freedom, youth activism, establishing an apathy that will eventually enable the reign of a totalitarian government.
