Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers state, on Sunday met with Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo, at the government house in Port Harcourt, Cable TV reports.
On Saturday, TheCable reported that Atiku Abubakar, former vice-president, asked Obaseki to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for his reelection bid.
Atiku also spoke with governors who are members of the PDP to make way for Obaseki to get the party’s ticket.
On Friday, the APC screening committee disqualified him from the Edo governorship primary election but cleared Osagie Ize-Iyamu.
It is not yet clear the reason for the visit but there are indications that Obaseki may be pitching his tent with the PDP.
