Mr Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, has died more than two weeks after he tested positive for COVID-19.
Mr Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, announced Mr Kyari’s death on Twitter.
Abba Kyari, who had underlying health problems, including diabetes, was one of the high ranking politicians in Nigeria, one of the most powerful men in the country and the top official aide to President Muhammadu Buhari.
He was said to have contracted the COVID-19 while on an official trip to Germany in March. He was confirmed to have contracted the virus on March 23, though it was revealed March 30. It was announced that he died of COVID-19 on Friday 17th April, 2020.
