Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Governor of Lagos State has called for the end to gender-based violence of women around the world. In a picture uploaded to his Twitter handle, he stated,
“For far too long women and young girls in our nation have suffered the pain, hurt and stigma of gender-based violence and abuse. Too many have been hurt, intimidated and bullied. Too many have died. Such violence is inexcusable. There is nothing that can defend this wrongdoing.”
Uwa was killed with a fire extinguisher after struggling with her rapist, in a Benin Church. Notable people have joined to call for justice as he killer(s) are being brought to book.
