TwitterNG exploded with excitement after Beyonce’s new album was released with a surprisingly naija filled artist list. We haven’t been this excited since the news of Pastor Biodun and we all saw his reputation get shattered one tweet at a time. For more on that read here. There was an extra level of pride with this Beyonce’s new album release because it was predominantly filled Nigerian artistes. What could be better? (If we found our Beyonce was Nigerian.)
For a long time artists from different parts of the Nigerian and the continent have made several attempts to seal the afro-beats vibes on the tracks of the international world and this Lion-king Album: The gift track list might just be the glue that finally seals the deal. Inculcating the tunes of popular musicians like Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Burna boy, Busiswa, Tekno, Mr Eazi, Shatta Wale and Moonchild Sanelly will easily make that happen in the couple of months(This, we verily hope). According to Beyonce, the 14-track album is a love letter to the entire continent of Africa.
However with this Beyonce’s new album brings some much to expected “bad bele.” Kenyan singer Victoria Kimani points out that the setting for Lion King was based in Kenya.
It’s a cartoon, and a celebration of Africa involving some African artistes. This will still shed light into what talent Africa has to offer as a whole. What are your thoughts on this, comment below and view more on the story here.
