black friday

Year after year, the holidays arrive a little earlier, and 2019 is no exception. Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, was traditionally the day retailers meet their costs, with each sale propelling them further into “the black,” or profits.

Today, Black Friday simply means great deals. “Unbeatable” offers designed to entice shoppers into stores or in today’s case ‘online’.

But perhaps you don’t buy into the hype. “How much can I really save?” you wonder. Truth is, you’ll need to keep tabs on trends and adverts. When you do, here are some gadgets we feel you should get on this Black Friday season.

1. Televisions.

Why not? Televisions are getting smarter these days with features and applications like Netflix, chrome cast and many other features that’ll make your current TV look like the Nokia 3310 bulletproof phone (Yes, they’re bulletproof).

2. Low-Priced Laptops

Everyone went tablet crazy for a little bit but it turns out consumers aren’t quite ready to give up on laptops. The iPad Pro is lovely, but not necessarily conducive to typing out long reports or conducting business that requires a little screen real estate. Now might be the best time to get that mid-range HP laptop.

3. Tablets

Now might just be the time to nab a tablet you can use to stream Netflix on the go or keep the kids entertained. The iPad might just be a great option, especially for illustrators and Graphic designers with the new features on Adobe Photoshop and the pen.

4. Smart Speakers

Smart speakers have gone from niche gadgets to must-have devices. Have you seen what Amazon plans on doing with the Amazon Echo dot speaker? Or the latest offerings from JBL and many more.

5. Headphones and Earphones.

It’s 2019 and you don’t use Bluetooth Earphones or Headphones? Do you live under a rock? Do you enjoy the displeasure of trying to unravel your wired monstrosity of an earpiece? No. Need I say more?

6. Fitness Trackers

Statistics say Lagos traffic is gonna get worse thanks to our ever-deteriorating roads. So in the process of trekking through traffic, why not get a fitness tracker and begin your unorthodox fit fam journey.

Who needs a gym when you’ve got the whole of Lagos to yourself.

7. Smartphones.

Black Friday isn’t typically the best time to get deals on the newest smartphones, though you can save on older models or less flashy budget devices. These are so many great devices on the market right now that you can choose from.

8. Video Games and Consoles.

gaming consoles

Whether you’re on Team Xbox, PlayStation, or Switch, there is a game for you on Black Friday. Now would be a great time to snap up a console or some of the latest games like FIFA 20 or Red Dead Redemption II.

9. Cameras.

Camera stuff

While it might seem like most people have ditched traditional cameras for their phones and Instagram filters, that’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

As good as smartphones are, when the going gets really tough, they can’t really match up on high-end digital cameras, affordable point-and-shoot devices, and action cams like the compact GoPro. You can probably snag a drone alongside your action cam, too. We could do with some more aerial shots of Lagos.
